Treat yourself to a Trabocco in miniature made entirely by hand by a local architect, assembling individual pieces of timber, collected on the local beaches and appropriately chosen in order to create from time to time unique and original pieces.
Historical Background
The coast of Trabocchi corresponds to the stretch of the Adriatic coast in the province of Chieti (Abruzzo) marked by the spread of Trabocco, fishing machine on stilt. It is a stretch of coastline famous throughout Italy for its natural beauty and its diversity: each of the towns of the cost maintains its own characteristics and traditions. The Communes belong to it are those of the Chieti’s province and are as follows: Francavilla al Mare, Ortona, San Vito Chietino, Rocca San Giovanni, Fossacesia, Torino di Sangro, Casalbordino, Vasto, San Salvo. Among the unique peculiarities to this part of the Abruzzo’s coast, the most famous and picturesque are the curious “fishing machines” of his southern stretch: the famous and celebrated Trabocchi. Completely made of wood, are composed of a platform, supported by long poles, from which the fisherman falls overboard the net, and a long and daring walkway, resting on poles too, which connects to the mainland many tens of meters distant.
